In their three-year marriage, Dayana had softened her edges and tried to be patient, hoping to win over Aaron's fiery heart. But in the end, she only ended up hurting herself. So, she made the tough decision to set him free.
She decided to let him go, and to make her stance clear, she took to social media. With a simple caption that said, [I dumped him], and a picture showing a quote about cutting losses, she put the news out there.
People on social media thought she was playing hardball, and some even made her the butt of the joke and wrote harsh replies like, [Who gave you the guts to say this?].
But then, out of the blue, a man who had been desperately searching for her popped up on her social media platform and dropped a comment, [I did].
"Ms. Keane, I have some news for you," Dr. Noah Scott said gently, his tone serious but gentle.
Dayana's head was still spinning from the car wreck she'd been in two days ago. Fainted on the spot, she was in pain, both physically and emotionally. But now there was more news coming her way? She braced herself for whatever bombshell was about to drop.
Noah continued, "Your right fallopian tube had to be removed due to the accident, and I'm afraid your chances of getting pregnant in the future are only around 50%."
Dayana felt like somebody just punched her guts. Her eyes welled up with tears as she processed the news. Noah must have noticed because he softened his tone.
"Have you had a chance to get in touch with your husband yet?" he asked, his voice filled with concern.
Dayana shook her head slowly, her expression a mixture of shock and sorrow.
Noah sighed, feeling sympathy for her. He knew the severity of her situation. Just a couple of days ago, she was lucky to even be alive after that brutal accident. The impact had caused massive bleeding from an ectopic pregnancy, a terrifying situation indeed.
To make matters worse, the hospital couldn't reach her family.
"Ms. Keane, your body belongs to you," Noah said softly, trying to offer some comfort. "You need to learn to love yourself, especially after what you've been through. You've come out of that operating room alive, and that's something to be celebrated. It's like gaining a new life."
Dayana's eyebrows furrowed as she tried to understand his words, finally shifting her attention to Noah. New life? It was a perspective she hadn't considered amidst all the chaos and despair.
The guy in front of Dayana had a super soothing vibe, like a spring breeze in human form. And his smile was like pure magic, just melting away any gloom in the room.
"You mean, like, breaking free and starting fresh?" Dayana suddenly asked.
"Totally!" The doctor nodded, lowering his voice like he was spilling some top-secret info. "Sometimes, people who deal with stuff like breast hyperplasia or ovarian cysts get to step back and even make a new life for them. It's all part of the journey, right?"
Dayana nodded, feeling a mix of determination and frustration bubbling up inside her. She clenched her fist at her side, trying to muster up some courage.
Then, out of the blue, a lollipop appeared in front of her. She looked up, and there was Noah, grinning like he'd just won the jackpot. "Life needs to have a little sweetness," he said, all wise and cheerful.
"People should learn to live for themselves," Noah continued, his tone getting a bit more serious. "If you don't love yourself, who's gonna do it for you, right?"
"Thanks, Dr. Scott," Dayana said, feeling a bit choked up.
"No sweat," Noah replied, giving her a little nod before walking away.
Once he was out of sight, Dayana let out a heavy sigh, feeling a whole bunch of emotions swirling around inside her. She closed her eyes for a moment, and a single tear slipped down her cheek.
"Aaron, why aren't you picking up?" Dayana muttered to herself, feeling that all-too-familiar pang of disappointment.
Suddenly, she found herself fiddling with her phone, and before she knew it, she'd opened Instagram. And there it was, Scarlett had just posted a story.
"Shoutout to Mr. A for the necklace," the caption read, accompanied by a picture of a mystery man, his face hidden from view, helping Scarlett wearing the "Dreamweaver Pendant."
Dayana's heart skipped a beat. ‘Mr. A? Could it be...?’
Dayana and Aaron had been in each other's lives for three whole years. They knew each other's quirks and touches like the back of their hands. How on earth could she mistake his distinctive fingertips on Scarlett's collarbone for anyone else's?
Dayana felt like someone had slapped her hard. That pink diamond necklace from the auction was supposed to be Aaron's gift to her, yet here she was, only two days out of a coma, and Scarlett—Aaron's first love, was flaunting the Dreamweaver Pendant.
Feeling a surge of emotions, she couldn't help but dial Aaron's number. And this time, he finally picked up.
"Aaron, why have you been dodging my calls?" Dayana's voice quivered with a mix of hurt and frustration.
"Busy with work stuff," came Aaron's curt reply.
Dayana's heart sank at his impatient tone. "And where exactly are you right now?" she asked, her mind racing.
She couldn't ignore the fact that Scarlett's Instagram story had been posted just five minutes ago.
"In the office," Aaron replied, his tone cold as ice.
Just then, a sweet little voice piped up in the background, "Daddy, come on, Mommy's waiting to cut the cake .... "
Dayana couldn't help but let out a bitter laugh, tears streaming down her face. "Aaron, spinning lies every single day, isn't it exhausting?"
"I …. " Aaron's voice trailed off, caught off guard by Dayana's accusation.
"I know you gave her that necklace …. " Dayana's voice caught in her throat. She wiped away her tears, not giving a damn about her image. "Aaron, it's over between us."
"Can you just stop causing drama?" Aaron snapped, his patience wearing thin.
Chapter 2 Me or Her?
He pulled the 'stop causing drama' card every darn time he ran off with his old flame. And she was getting tired of it.
Was he just testing her love for him? But love always has an expiration date.
‘Aaron, we're bound to become strangers eventually,’ she firmly thought.
Two more days passed.
Despite Noah's attempts to dissuade her, Dayana went through with the discharge procedures.
Her friend Chloe, fresh off a business trip from another city, swung by to pick her up. Upon hearing Dayana's ordeal, Chloe was fuming. She spent the entire afternoon tearing into Aaron until her throat felt parched. Dayana promptly handed her a glass of warm water.
After taking a few sips, Chloe set the glass down and couldn't resist chiming in. "Girl, don't let love blind you, alright? He's just a guy. Why put up with his sketchy antics?"
Dayana gripped her friend's hand, her eyes slightly teary. "I wanted to let go, but the idea of him not being there with me anymore .... "
She choked up, unable to finish her sentence.
Chloe sighed to herself, love was indeed scary. Maybe staying single was the way to go after all.
Supporting Dayana, the two of them rode the elevator all the way down to the first floor. Chloe's car was parked not too far away, so she told Dayana to hang tight at the hospital entrance while she fetched the car.
July's heat was absolutely brutal, with the sun blazing down and heat waves rippling up from the pavement. Dayana couldn't handle the scorching weather, especially after feeling weak from the surgery. Her body started trembling a bit, and she was just about to find a spot to rest when her gaze locked onto something.
"Aaron?"
Right next to her, a man rushed past, carrying Archie, Scarlett's son, with a look of concern plastered on his face. Scarlett trailed behind him.
"What are you doing here?" Dayana asked, her voice catching.
"I .... " Aaron started to reply, but was cut off.
"Daddy, my tummy hurts so bad...." Archie's plaintive voice interrupted, drawing Aaron's attention.
"Archie, don't worry, I'll take you to the doctor," Aaron reassured him.
But just as he was about to leave, Dayana exploded. "Hold up! Why are you here taking care of him when his mom's right here? Aaron, you're my husband, not Scarlett's."
Scarlett's eyes welled up with tears. "Dayana, you've got it all wrong .... "
"Since Aaron's already taking your son to the hospital, can't you figure it out yourself?" Dayana shot Aaron a pointed look. "Aaron, give her son back and take me home, now!"
"Dayana, how long are you gonna keep this up? His life's on the line now, let me go!" Aaron said, giving her a cold stare.
"Aaron .... " Dayana's whole body trembled, and she slowly released her grip. "So, what's it gonna be? Me or her?"
Aaron didn't bother answering her question. Instead, he stormed off into the hospital with Archie in his arms.
"Aaron, let's just get divorced!" Dayana blurted out, her heart sinking.
Aaron stopped in his tracks, but he didn't even bother turning around. "Fine, whatever you want!"
And with that, he kept on striding forward, Scarlett tagging along behind him like they were some sort of family. Meanwhile, Dayana just felt like a third wheel.
Dayana slapped herself hard, trying to snap out of her romantic illusion.
"What in the world are you doing?" Chloe grabbed her hand, concern written all over her face. "If you wanna throw hands at him, I'll round up some backup to kick that jerk's butt, okay? You don't have to deal with this crap alone."
"Ugh, not a good idea," Dayana sniffled, her voice thick with emotion.
Chloe glanced up at the sky, taking a deep breath. "Daya, you don't need him anymore, alright?"
"Yeah, I guess so."
Chapter 3 Astronomical Alimony
Finally, the greed that had been gnawing at Dayana's heart vanished into thin air. She'd been holding onto bitterness for three long years, and frankly, she was done being disrespected.
Noah, just clocking out for the day, let out this pity-filled sigh as he watched Dayana walk away, tears streaming down her face. Seemed like he'd need to stock up on lollipops for her next visit. But hey, a lollipop wasn't gonna solve all her problems.
Dayana climbed into Chloe's car and they headed towards Edenridge Estate, a fancy residential area where she'd been living since tying the knot with Aaron.
Once inside the mansion, Dayana went straight to the cloakroom. She gathered up all the pricey jewelry and designer bags Aaron had gifted her over the past three years without a second thought. She wasn't about to leave a single cent for that other woman, but hey, who could blame her?
Three freaking years down the drain—how much time had she let slip away?
It was time to start moving on.
"Hey miss, the movers have packed up all your stuff. Should we haul it over to the other side of Yellowbrick Road now?" the crew leader asked, strolling over.
Dayana nodded, taking one last look around the villa with a heavy heart. Sure, it felt like she was leaving a piece of herself behind, but she quickly shook off the feeling. Trash was trash, and she was so over it.
"Aaron, from now on, we're strangers. Let's just cut ties and call it a day," she muttered to herself, as if sealing the deal.
"Madam..." Mimi, the housekeeper, hurried to catch up, her expression hesitant. "Are you sure about going this far?"
"Mimi, she can't stick around, so let's just leave him for Scarlett to deal with," Chloe snorted, her annoyance clear as day. She knew she was blowing off steam.
Watching Chloe stand by Dayana's side, Mimi let out a deep sigh. To her, Dayana was a wonderful person, why couldn't her husband see that? From where Mimi stood, Scarlett was nothing but trouble. Sure, she might seem all sweet and nice on the outside, but who knows what ulterior motives she had lurking beneath the surface?
Love really did have a way of blinding people.
If the old lady found out about this mess, the Keane Family would be in for another storm. After all, Dayana was the old lady's prized pupil. It was her who had pushed for this marriage in the first place.
At ten o'clock that evening, Aaron returned home to find the bedroom empty. Frowning, he wondered, 'How could she still want to be my wife when she's so quick to run away from home?' It wasn't the first time she'd pulled a disappearing act, and he was starting to get fed up.
Loosening his tie, he headed downstairs. "Get her on the phone and tell her to get back here. If she doesn't want to, then she can stay gone for good."
Mimi's expression looked a little weird when she said, “Sir, haven't you noticed what's missing from home?'
"Ah, come on, don't tell me that troublemaker..." Aaron muttered to himself, his thoughts racing as he stomped upstairs to the bedroom, his sharp eyes scanning the room.
Sure enough, something was off. A pillow was missing from the bed, the dressing table was bare, and her jewelry, clothes, and shoes were nowhere to be found in the closet.
Aaron let out a grunt of irritation. She was always stirring up trouble, and even when she wasn't bothering him directly, she managed to get on his nerves. How could he stand living with her any longer?
"Sir, looks like Madam's really done with this place," Mimi said, appearing with a document in hand.
Aaron shot her a suspicious look. "Mimi, what's that supposed to mean?"
"Here," she said, holding out the document.
"A divorce agreement?" Aaron's gaze darkened as he took it from her. He skimmed through it quickly, his anger mounting as he saw the clause, 40 million in alimony.
With a loud smack, Aaron slammed the divorce agreement down hard on the dressing table.
Chapter 4 Without Me, You Are Nothing
Aaron muttered a string of curses as he grabbed the key left at the entrance and stormed out of the house.
The sleek black car raced along the wide road, reaching Medellin in just half an hour.
Room 2302, Building A.
When Dayana heard the urgent ringing of the bell, she assumed Chloe had arrived and headed towards the door, hastily zipping up the back of her dress. "I'm coming!"
But when she saw Aaron standing there, her first instinct was to slam the door shut. Unfortunately, Aaron's fancy shoes blocked the door's path, preventing it from closing, and he barged his way into her home.
"This is my house, get out!" Dayana protested, trying to stand her ground.
"Your house?" Aaron scoffed, eyeing the modest 80 to 90 square meter apartment. "Hate to break it to you, but I'm the owner here."
Dayana's heart sank. How could this be?
"That's impossible! Grandma said she put the house under my name .... " she argued.
"Sure, Grandma said that, but when Edgar went to do the paperwork, he accidentally registered it under my name," Aaron explained casually. He vaguely remembered Edgar mentioning it to him, but it was such a minor detail that he'd completely forgotten about it. Little did he know, it would come in handy now.
Dayana's eyes narrowed ever so slightly, caught off guard by Edgar's move. "Then you’d better put the house in my name."
"Transfer the property to you?" Aaron lounged back on the sofa, legs crossed, looking all relaxed, but his words had an edge that made Dayana want to give him a piece of her mind. "Why should I clean up after Edgar's mess?"
"Then go have a chat with Edgar!" Dayana practically gritted her teeth, abruptly changing the subject. "Are you here to just talk nonsense? What about the terms of the divorce agreement? I'm ready to divorce you."
Aaron's face twisted with disdain, her words a blow to his pride and self-esteem. "Dayana, I won't give you a single cent. For three years, you've lived it up with the Keane's, enjoying fancy meals and strutting around in designer brands. Without me, you're nothing."
Dayana's eyes welled up with tears, but she took a few calming sips of hot milk to steady herself. She locked eyes with Aaron, her tone firm. "I'd rather starve than stay stuck with you!"
"Fine!" Aaron shot up from the sofa, veins bulging on his forehead, sending a shiver down Dayana's spine. In the next moment, his voice turned icy cold. "I won't sign a damn thing."
Dayana was so furious she could barely catch her breath. "Aaron, I've been putting up with this for three years, three whole years you've been tangled up with Scarlett. I begged for your love, but I'm done begging. I'm letting you go!"
"Three years ago, you begged me to marry. But now, the tables have turned." Aaron's grin was so infuriatingly smug. "Dayana, you'll do just fine as the Keane Family's little lucky charm."
"You .... " Dayana's words got stuck in her throat, but Aaron shut her down with a raised finger pressed against his lips.
"Shut it!" His voice was sharp as he pointed towards the door. "One more word, and you'll be packing your bags and getting out of here."
Dayana's hand clenched by her side, feeling the need for a place that was truly hers. The thought of being at the mercy of men, kicked out whenever they pleased, filled her with a mix of helplessness, confusion, and fear.
Seeing her deflate, Aaron let out a jeering snort. "You've got three days to move back to Edenridge Estate, or you'll be coughing up the cash yourself."
Chapter 5 I’ll Make You Pay
Putting aside the threat, Aaron slammed the door and left.
Dayana wiped her face. After that, she dialed Chloe's number, apologetically and bluntly said that she was not feeling well, so Dayana could not go out with her.
Originally, Chloe was afraid that Dayana was bored out of her mind and couldn't walk away from her love affair, so she specially took her to the fashion show to see male models. However, it turned out that Dayana was not in the mood at all that time.
What Dayana didn't expect was that Aaron would appear in Medellin early the next morning.
Looking at the bunch of keys in his hand, Dayana resisted the urge to snatch them. She decided to ignore him, just eat the porridge and drink the milk.
Being ignored, Aaron's eyes were cold, but he didn't pick a fight. Instead, he said in a deep voice, “Grandma is so angry with you.”
Dayana was shocked to hear that. She couldn’t help but ask, “What do you mean?”
Aaron sneered, “Isn't this the result you want?”
Dayana threw away the spoon, stepped forward, and grabbed his collar before saying, “Tell me what happened to grandma?”
Aaron swatted away her hand. With a backhand, he grabbed her collar, slightly lifting her up, and said sinisterly, “Dayana, if something really happens to Grandma, I will make you pay with your life.”
Dayana's neck was so strangled by the collar that she almost couldn't breathe. She tried to push him while said haltingly, “Let… me… go!"
Aaron let go of her, straightened the folds of his coat, and walked out first. He ordered, “Follow me!”
Dayana quickly grabbed the bag at the door and chased after him.
The old residence of the Keane family was a small historical house.
When Dayana was about to get out of the car, someone clamped her wrists. She twisted her head and heard the man's warning, “Be careful with your words. If you irritate Grandma again, I won't be able to spare you.”
Aaron’s grandmother, Edith Keane, was the only person in the Keane family who had given her warmth. Even if Dayana wanted to divorce with Aaron, she would not irritate her so mercilessly. So, in response to his words, Dayana just rolled her eyes and said, “I know.”
Aaron held back his anger and loosened his grip on her. Then, he opened the car door and got out of the car first.
Two rows of servants at the main entrance bent down to welcome them home.
Dayana curled her lips. The most elaborate person in the Keane family was her grandmother-in-law, so she must be the one who was also responsible for this formation.
The butler, Edgar, came up to meet them. His face full of grooves filled with worry. He directly greeted Aaron, “Mr. Keane, you are back. Madam Keane has just woken up and she is clamoring to see you.”
“How is she now?” Dayana asked anxiously.
Edgar answered her question with dissatisfaction, “Mrs. Keane, even if you want to make trouble, you shouldn't make it public. If something happens to Madam Keane, what are you going to pay for it?”
Dayana had become accustomed to Edgar's accusations. The servants of the Keane family were all on the right side of the family. So, when they saw that Aaron didn't take her seriously, they lost respect for her.
“I did something wrong. But I promise I will tell Madam Keane the result next time, after the trouble is over,” Dayana apologized sincerely.
Edgar was speechless to hear that.
What did Dayana mean actually?
Aaron glared at her accusingly. Edgar was the longest worker of the Keane family, even Edith has to respect him. So, if Edgar heard about that affair or the divorce’s news, Aaron was afraid that they couldn’t hide their bad relationship anymore in front of Edith.
Therefore, Dayana could only keep silent and come in without a word.
In the living room.
Edith was sitting in a wheelchair, looking at the pair of eye-catching people who walked in. She waved to them sharply, “Come here quickly. I have something to ask you.”
Aaron secretly gave Dayana a warning look, but Dayana turned away, not bothering to pay attention to him.
“Grandma, how do you feel now? Why did you faint?”
Chapter 6 Apologize Quickly
Samantha gloated, “Don’t worry, it’s not because she is angry with you.”
“Samantha!” Edith warned with a look on her face.
Samantha shrank her neck and said, “I'm sorry, grandma. I won't say anything anymore.” As she spoke, she carefully covered her mouth.
Edith shook her head in disappointment, then grabbed Dayana's hand and said with a smile, “I'm fine. When people are old, some parts of their body are no longer useful. So don’t worry about it. Anyway, Dayana, is it Aaron who made you suffer?”
“No, it’s not like that, grandma."
“Dayana, please stop covering up for Aaron. It made me feel so sorry about it."
“Grandma, it’s really nothing,” Dayana didn't dare to tell the truth, for fear that Edith would be angry or disappointed.
Edith was half-convinced. She suddenly looked at her grandson and said, “Aaron, I know you never lie to me. Tell me, the rumor that you are going to divorce Dayana, is it true?”
Seeing his grandmother’s pale old face, as if she was about to collapse at any moment, Aaron's eyes flickered. He decided to deny it and said, “It's not true, I have no intention of getting a divorce with Dayana.”
Dayana was anxious, but when she saw Edith relaxing with naked eyes, she momentarily swallowed back the words in her mouth.
Edith grabbed her hand and suddenly said, “Oh my Dayana, why are your hands so cold? Aaron, come and help rubbing her hands to warm them. Also Dayana, you must tell me when Aaron bullies you in the future, okay?”
Aaron could tell that his grandma was testing. So, he answered, “Sure.” Then took Dayana's hands, breathed a sigh of relief, and stiffly helped her rub Dayana’s hands.
Dayana saw his reluctance and said deliberately, “Aaron, you are so kind. My feet are also cold. Why don't you warm my feet... Aw!"
“Dayana, what's wrong?” Edith was startled by her scream and asked quickly.
“It's just that Aaron's strength is too strong,” Dayana answered. She almost grimaced. Seemed like that man's desire for revenge was so strong that he pinched the skin off her palms.
“Aaron, she is fragile. you have to be gentle and compassionate. Lighten your force, okay?”
“Alright, grandma.”
Mirabelle on the side saw this scene. Her eyes flashed with displeasure.
She had four children, but the eldest was in a vegetative state because of a car accident. Then the second one, who was smart since he was a child, had no pride in front of his wife.
Moreover, the reason why Aaron had to carefully serve the powerless Dayana, whose background was shabby, was because of Edith’s want.
“Anyway, why do I see Dayana lose so much weight? Aaron, you should take care of your wife in a better way. Otherwise, I want you all to move back to this mansion.”
Edith's words made Dayana panic. Wouldn't it be easy to expose their affairs if they moved back to the old house?
“Grandma, I want to spend my whole life with Dayana only. I think the two of us are enough.”
Aaron's words immediately made Edith breathe a sigh of relief. Moreover, he just said that the divorce was indeed rumored outside.
“Okay, okay, I won’t be your third-wheeler.”
Immediately, she glanced at her daughter-in-law, granddaughter, and grandson, then said, “Dayana is my granddaughter-in-law, as well as your daughter-in-law and sister-in-law. So, it’s better for you all to get along with her. Get it?”
Even if Edith said like that, none of the Keane family’s members liked Dayana.
“Even her husband doesn't like her,” Samantha muttered.
“Oh my God, who taught you to say that? Is that your mother? Mirabelle, you should teach Samantha well at home. If she continues like this, she will bring trouble to the Keane family and even her husband's family.”
Mirabelle's face suddenly changed. It was all because of Dayana that she was embarrassed by Edith in front of everyone. She secretly put the account to Dayana, but said respectfully to Edith, “Yes, Mom. I understand.”
Then, she turned her head to look at her daughter and said with an order, “Samantha, apologize quickly.”
“I'm not wrong,” Samantha said with a stout in her neck.
Snapped!
Edith slapped her and said, “Apologize!”
Chapter 7 Incomplete Marriage
Samantha covered her beaten face and burst into tears, “I hate you!”
After saying that, she ran upstairs sadly.
“Look at the good daughter you taught.”
Edith had long been dissatisfied with her daughter-in-law's education. Since her third and fourth kid were both spoiled which made them unruly, willful, and ignorant.
Mirabelle's face changed slightly. She was determined to speak kind words for her daughter, “Mom, Samantha is still too young to understand."
Dayana suddenly interrupted her, “She's not young anymore. We are actually the same age. I think Samantha really needs to learn to grow up. Fortunately, we are all a family. Otherwise, with her no-gate mouth, it's easy to offend people. Isn’t that right, Mom?”
Mirabelle was blocked and speechless. Did her daughter-in-law, who always only knew how to please her, dared to scold her that day?
“Dayana, you are right.”
Edith was very cooperative with her granddaughter-in-law. Since that day she was willing to stand up, of course Edith wanted to cheer her up.
In the past, it was not that she didn't want to help Dayana. However, Dayana seemed to love Aaron too much, which made her too humble and selfless. So that when she was wronged, Dayana would swallow it all alone.
Of course, those attitudes made Edith couldn't get involved at all. But at that moment, Dayana really could take care of herself in a good way which was a great thing.
Edith wanted to talk to them for a while, but her old bones couldn't hold on any longer. Seeing that, Aaron hurriedly pushed her back to her room to rest.
In the living room, there were only Mirabelle, Dayana, and Lynne, who were playing his feet on the armrest of the sofa.
“Dayana, is there still no movement in your stomach?”
Dayana clutched the phone, since the questions made her eyes teary. She had experienced this before, but it still made her disappointed.
Perhaps, that was God’s will also, so that Dayana could leave Aaron without any worries in the future.
Seeing that Dayana was silent, Mirabelle showed displeasure. She scolded her, “Dayana, it's been three years since you got married. It's been so long but you two still don't have any babies. Otherwise, the purpose of marrying is to carry on the family line. If you don’t give birth, another woman will give birth to you. Don’t blame your mother for forcing you. A marriage without children is incomplete.”
Dayana could only fall silent when heard it.
“Not to mention Scarlett, who is so smart. She uses her children to seduce Aaron to her place on this day. But you, you don't have any children and you can't even tie up a man. You are so useless.”
“Mom, Since Scarlett is pretty good and Aaron likes her, why don't you help them both?” Lynne interrupted, since he liked Scarlett too.
“You shut up!” Mirabelle glared at her son.
Actually, what kind of sin had she created?
How come everyone in the family was so seduced by Scarlett's scheming girl that they lost their souls?
“Dayana, you and I will go to that famous clinic one day. I heard that many women who were not pregnant became pregnant after going there.”
“Are you sure about it, Mom? Since pregnancy is God’s will.”
Edith scowled and scolded, “Dayana, what are you babbling about? Be serious!”
“Mom, there is nothing wrong with my health. How about you ask Aaron to go to the hospital for a check-up? I'm afraid he is infertile.”
Dayana didn't want to endure it anymore. In the past, Mirabelle used to give her some home remedies every day in order to get her pregnant. But once she drank, her mouth frothed. If Mimi hadn't discovered it in time, she would have died long ago.
“How dare you say that, Dayana!”
In Mirabelle’s eyes, her son must be good in every way. So, she put the blame on Dayana.
“But I have checked and there is nothing wrong with my body. That’s why I’m sure if the problem isn’t on me.”
Chapter 8 I'm Not That Cheap
Edith became angry and said something against Dayana. She should have mustered up the courage to oppose her mother-in-law to the end.
“Then try every means to get pregnant.”
“I don't want to have children for the time being,” Dayana answered loudly. She was ready to divorce Aaron, so there should be no children between them.
Edith was so angry that she took a sip of coffee and said, “Do you want another woman to give birth to you? Dayana, don't blame me for not reminding you. If you really go to that point, you will have no place in the Keane family.”
Dayana just wanted to chuckle, since she couldn't wait to do it. “Perhaps, let Scarlett’s baby be born?”
Hearing that, Edith's face turned red. She couldn’t help but said angrily, “Dayana, you deliberately want to annoy me, don’t you?”
Dayana shrugged innocently, then said, “Mom, you have wronged me. I just saw you were so anxious, so I was kind enough to share the burden with you.”
“If you are really willing to share the burden with me, then come with me to the clinic,” Edith ordered, couldn't help raise her tone.
“Never!” Dayana answered, making her attitude clear.
Edith was also furious and said, “Then you can’t be the next Mrs. Keane here. Don't shamelessly occupy the pit.”
Dayana didn't want to stay there anymore. She picked up her bag and stood up, “Then you go and ask your son to divorce me.”
Dayana glared fiercely in a certain direction, which was as dark as a crow. It was so shameless to see that Aaron just hid in the dark and watched while she was being induced.
“Bitch!” Mirabelle couldn't help but get angry when she heard that words.
After Mirabelle caught a glimpse of Aaron from the corner of her eye, she couldn't help but ramble on.
“Aaron, look at her, she has such a bad temper. How could she dare to scold me like that? Aaron, you are already 31 and you don't have a child, that’s why I’m so worried. So, why don't you find another one? I’ll find you a good choice this time. I also have heard that women who have big butts are easy to give birth to. Or maybe, you can tell me what type you want?”
Aaron put his suit jacket on his arm and said expressionlessly, “Mom, do you want to piss grandma off to death?”
Mirabelle was speechless when hearing that. How could she afford to carry this charge?
“I’ll go back first.”
Seeing Aaron disappearing into the living room, Mirabelle wiped her tears and said, “Since Aaron is getting married, he doesn't even listen to my words.”
Lynne said flatteringly, “Mom, I listen to you.”
“Oh, my Lynne is still a good boy.”
Hearing that Mirabelle was so pleased with that, Lynne suddenly said what he wanted while massaging Mirabelle's shoulders, “Mom, I want to buy a sports car. It's not expensive, just over five million. You can pay for it, right?”
“You brat! Turns out you only care about yourself and that sports car. Starting from this day, I’ll cut your pocket money,” Mirabelle responded angrily, patted her chest, and sighed.
Really, there was no kid who suited her expectations.
“Mom, I’m sorry. Please don’t cut my money.”

“Get in the car!”
The black Cullinan was parked on the side of the road, with the window half-lowered, revealing Aaron's cold and handsome face.
Dayana didn't refuse pretentiously. She could take a taxi from there, but the man had frozen her card and she didn't have much cash on hand.
“Since grandma’s health is not very good, divorce is impossible. I think it’s better for you to pack your things and go back to the Edenridge Estate.”
Dayana exited the apartment to find peace. So, it annoyed her when Aaron ordered her to go back.
“Aaron, I'm not that cheap!”
After hearing that, Aaron only felt irritated. He opened the car window and said impatiently, “Then what do you want?”
Chapter 9 Abandoned Baby
"I want you to go shopping with me and be my cash machine." Dayana said smirking.
The most infuriating thing she had seen in the scandal between her husband and Scarlet was that he always bought Scarlet whatever she asked for no matter the price. She was jealous at that time, but she didn't dare to make a fuss, for fear that Aaron would divorce her, so she swallowed her grievance and jealousy. Since they are getting divorced, she wanted to squeeze his pocked dry.
"Are you taking me for granted?" Aaron sneered, with ridicule in his eyes.
"Are you going to do it or not?" Dayana was not angry either. She crossed her arms and raised her chin slightly, "If you spoil me today, I will consider moving back to the Mansion." Aaron narrowed his narrow slightly, feeling a frightening low pressure lingering all over his body.
"You really are something," he said through his clenched teeth.
"Thanks for the compliment,” Dayan replied casually, tilting her head.
Their black car stopped, and Aaron said in a calm voice, "Get off.”
Looking at the large shopping mall not far away, Dayana's lips curled up with a happy smile. She grabbed her bag and got out of the car. As she was about to turn, the door was closed from inside, and the car sped away, spraying exhaust fumes all over her face. Dayana gritted his teeth.
“What a bastard!” She grumbled. She must have been blind to be fall in love with that cold-stone man.
She came to Budapest a few years ago, a place she was unfamiliar with, to learn how to make perfume. Here, she met many people, including Edith, Edith, who later became her mentor, and Aaron who treated her like an alien. The handsome Aaron didn't feel anything for her, but she fell in love with him completely when he appeared in time to save her when she was dragged into a dilapidated building by a homeless man.
At that moment, he was like a prince in shining armor, rescuing her from a desperate situation. After discovering that he had no feeling for her, she still married him without hesitation, thinking that over time, he would warm up to her.
The reality smashed her into pieces.
Dayana took out a wet tissue and wiped the dust off her face, exhaled a breath, and walked towards the mall.
A stage was set up in the atrium of the shopping mall today. Dayana listened for a moment. Apparently, a celebrity came to that mall and make a small show.
It's understandable because the mall wasn't usually crowded on weekdays, but now it's filled with people and hustle and bustle.
Dayana walked around and was about to return home when she heard noises and the faint cry of a baby coming from the bathroom not far away.
She paused subconsciously, and headed towards the bathroom.
She saw a slightly fat middle-aged woman running out of the bathroom holding a baby and, shout "Somebody left a baby in the rest room. This baby is a newborn, how cruel.”
The baby was wrapped in baggy short sleeves, probably clothes worn by middle-aged women.
Dayana subconsciously followed the middle-aged lady all the way to the security room. When the security guard herald about this, he was immediately alerted and took action. This shopping mall ranked high in Budapest. If words about an abandoned baby spreads, that mall would definitely got a lot of negative reviews.
Through surveillance, the security found a pregnant woman quickly. No one expected that the pregnant woman was actually a high school student. The high school student who was brought over by the security guard cried a river when she saw the baby she had thrown in the toilet hole.
"I don't want the baby. I can't raise him all by myself because I am just a high schooler,” she said sobbing.
The aunt was so angry that her brows arched, "If you knew you couldn't take care of him, why did you decide to keep him in the first place? You youngsters, all you know is how to have fun regardless of the consequences in the future. Now that you decided to keep the pregnancy, you have to take responsibility for the baby."
The female high school student was also aggrieved, "His father said he would take responsibility, but he disappeared last month and I can't find him anywhere. I don't want my mother know about this or she will beat me to death.”
Chapter 10 Next Family
The older mom grunted, if she had such a daughter, she would also have the urge to beat her to death, it was not easy to bring her up, but in the end, she was raised to be spoiled by others.
Even though the female high school student begged hard not to tell her mother, the security guard refused, they had to notify the parents when something this big happened.
The high school girl sat limply on the ground, bawling with regret.
The baby was being held and coaxed by the older woman, and another lady was busy making formula.
Dayana was standing in the corner, her eyes staring straight at the baby with wrinkled features. If that embryo had landed in her womb in the first place, wouldn't she also be giving birth to a baby so ugly that it looked like that old man after ten months of pregnancy? Dayana's heart suddenly ached and tears were falling from the ends of her eyes.
"There are no ifs in this world." With the sound of a warm voice, a clean dark blue handkerchief appeared in front of her, "Wipe your tears.”
Dayana froze as his words made her realize that she had said everything that was on her mind, her cheeks burned slightly as she awkwardly took the handkerchief and wiped the tears off her face.
She took the handkerchief and took a deep sniff, the smell was nice and a bit familiar, she didn't move towards Noah's side, the smell emanating from him was the same as the smell of the handkerchief.
"Don't cry, Miss Nolan," Noah sensed that Dayana was not herself today, and comforted her with a warm voice, "The baby will be fine."
Dayana asked anxiously, "Noah, did you go to the city ten years ago?"
Hearing the shocking question, Noah shook his head, "No, why?"
Dayana was disappointed, she thought she had found someone she knew.
Ten years ago, a horrific robbery took place in Sioux City, the shopping malls were stained with a piercing red color, the pungent smell of blood made people want to vomit. Dayana was at the scene at that time, she followed someone to escape, together.
After being rescued, she could not remember the face of the person who had accompanied her through life and death due to shock. The only thing she knew was that the person was from H town.
She defied her family's objections and insisted on going to H town, not only to look for her mother, but also to find that person.
"I apologize for soiling your handkerchief because of my unreasonable fear," Dayana said as she grabbed the handkerchief in embarrassment.
"It's okay, you can keep it," Seeing Dayana trying to divert attention, Noah understood not to pursue the matter further.
“Once in a while we have to laugh at life,” he said warmly. “Tears won't do any good if you shed too many of them, after all.”
Certainly, she was nicknamed as the Warming machine, it suited her personality, "Has everyone ever told you of how sweet you are? Oh, you can call me Dayana."
"You give me too much credit," Noah rubbed her head lightly.
Dayana was stunned and moved her eyes upwards. What caught her eye was his thin wrist. She coughed slightly in embarrassment. Noah also realized that his act was a little over the top, so he retracted his hand as if he was electrocuted.
Suddenly, Dayana's felt her arm was being pulled and she sway away from Noah. She looked at the person snatching her in pain and saw Aaron staring at her fiercely.
She frowned and said, "Let me go."
Aaron couldn't hear what she said. He sneered and said sternly, "So this is why we’re getting divorce? You have a new boyfriend you’re keeping away from me and Grandma. Is he the reason you’re running away? You have a man under your finger ready to build your next new family, or do you even live together already? You can't feel enough of just me to satisfy you, can you?"
As he spoke, his dark eyes looked at Noah cynically.
Aaron didn't expect to saw this infuriating scene when the mall manager made announcement about the abandoned baby and he hurried over.
Noah returned Aaron's sharp gaze by explaining calmly, "Sir, I think you misunderstand. Dayana and I do not have a relationship as you imply."
"I'm talking to my wife, Pretty boy." Aaron ignored him completely.
Dayana's heart was pounding she could hardly breathe. She slapped Aaron with her eyes glazed over.
Along with the loud slapping sound, a red slap mark appeared on Aaron's handsome face. Dayana was very disappointed, wondering if this was the same man she loved so much.
“What are you doing to storm in and throw your fit. You can't even keep your to yourself and you have the face to round around second-guessing people.”
Aaron touched his cheek with his tongue and laughed gloomily. Dayana was frightened by his laugh that she subconsciously took a step back.
Aaron squinted throwing a dangerous glare, "That's a bold move even from you. Do you have a death wish?"
"And who asked you to humiliate me?" Dayana raised her head stubbornly, then said, "Apologize."
